Description: Drawing on a wide range of transcontinental case studies addressing contemporary issues such as national parks and displacement, forest conservation and neoliberal natures, conservation and development, and race and environmental racism, this course critically examines how conservation policies and discourses are often used to advance capitalist and statists agendas, and how these agendas have exploited and oppressed indigenous populations in a global context.
