Description: Rock physics, the study of the impact of rock microstructure, mineralogy, fluids, stress state, and diagenetic features on wave propagation in porous media. Understanding the use of such relationships for quantitative analysis of seismic datasets. Applications to geologic carbon storage, permafrost characterization, geothermal systems, and hydrogeology. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for ESCI 665 if student has credit for ESCI 465.
