Description: Students are introduced to statistical physics and its applications in numerous current fields of nanoscience and nanoengineering, in particular nanotubes, polymers, colloids, magnets, ferroelectrics, liquid crystals, and biological systems. Theories are presented, and the RG theory of phase transitions is discussed. Only basic undergraduate physics and mathematics are required.
