Description: This course examines Chinese painting from ancient times to the early twentieth century. Issues of examination include themes, styles, and functions of Chinese painting; the interrelationship between paintings and the intended viewers; regionalism; images and words; foreign elements in Chinese painting. Cross-list: ASIA 371, HART 571. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for HART 371 if student has credit for HART 571.
