Description: Introduction to structural dynamic systems. Linear SDOF and MDOF discrete systems, undamped and damped systems, free and forced vibration, dynamic response to periodic and arbitrary excitations, numerical evaluation of dynamic response, response spectrum and modal analysis. Additional topics for graduate version 576: Linear systems theory, transform methods, state space methods, feedback control, observers and identification. Applications using MATLAB. Demonstrations and laboratory examples. Students will be required to do more advanced assignments and a project. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for CEVE 576 if student has credit for CEVE 476.
