Description: An examination of deformation and failure processes within the Earth's shallow crust, with a focus on rock and sediment mechanics, and associated fluid processes. Emphasis will be on geologic applications, including sediment consolidation, slope stability, fault mechanics, and earthquake nucleation and rupture. Cross-list: ESCI 667. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for ESCI 467 if student has credit for ESCI 667.
