Description: Introduction to the fundamental physical principles of light interaction with matter, separation (by charge, size, confirmation) and detection techniques utilized in the field of bioengineering. These include absorbance and fluorescence spectroscopy, light and fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, electrophoresis, PCR, Blotting, and ELISA. BIOE 342/BIOC 320 may be taken concurrently with BIOE 348. Cross-list: BIOE 648.
