Description: Understanding "media" broadly, this class explores a range of historical and theoretical readings around the term. Typewriters, photography and television will be among our topics, guided by two primary questions: how have developments in media affected, even determined, human perception and communication, and how have artists and critics responded to such changes? Cross-list: HART 595. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for HART 495 if student has credit for HART 595.
