Description: Mathematical models of quasicrystals, whose discovery in the early 1980's led to a paradigm shift in materials science. Topics include: classical theory of ordered structures (i.e., lattices modeling crystals), Delone subsets and tilings of Euclidean space, aperiodically ordered structures generated by inflation or cut-and-project schemes.
