Description: An introduction to the major issues of ethical theory through the reading and discussion of such classical figures as Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, the Epicureans, St. Augustine, St. Thomas, Maimonides, Bishop Butler, David Hume, Adam Smith, J.S. Mill, and I. Kant. Recommended Prerequisite(s): One previous course in Philosophy. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for PHIL 326 if student has credit for PHIL 526.
