Description: Survey of history and current state of nuclear and particle physics with the emphasis on experimental results and how they led to our current understanding of the strong and electroweak interactions. Some recent advances are discussed in detail. Requires completion of a Monte Carlo simulation project. Cross-list: PHYS 411. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for PHYS 542 if student has credit for PHYS 411.
