Description: A model is a simplified representation of something. Scientific models range from conceptual to physical to mathematical. In Earth and planetary science, one is often concerned with modeling interactions between physical, chemical, and biological components, i.e., with modeling systems. This class will cover the fundamentals of scientific modeling with a focus on Earth systems. Cross-list: ESCI 471. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for ESCI 671 if student has credit for ESCI 471. Repeatable for Credit.
