Description: What does modern American democracy and community owe to black women writers? This course explores the writerly activism, imagination, and consequence of three black women of letters whose work spans the last one hundred years-inquiring into and analyzing the ways that their words have shaped the American experiment from the late nineteenth century to the present. Class to begin January 19th and meet every other Tuesday at Wilson House.
