Description: This course covers various numerical methods for solving partial differential equations: aspects of finite difference methods, finite element methods, finite volume methods, mixed methods, discontinuous Galerkin methods, and meshless methods. Both theoretical convergence and practical implementation of the methods are studied for elliptic and parabolic problems. May receive credit for only one of the following courses: CAAM 452/CEVE 455/CAAM 536/CEVE 555. Cross-list: CEVE 555. Recommended Prerequisite(s): CAAM 336 Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for CAAM 536 if student has credit for CAAM 452.
