Description: This course will examine the popular religion in the Middle East from Late Antiquity until the 19th century, focusing on healing practices, astrology, protection, amulets, seasoned/life-cycle rituals, and other popular beliefs common to Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Cross-list: RELI 441, ASIA 441. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for RELI 525 if student has credit for RELI 441.
