Description: Advanced study in selected topics in music history of the 19th and 20th centuries. Topics may vary. Please consult with the department for additional information. FALL 2016: Follows Parisian opera culture through the nineteenth century, form Auber's reinvention of grand opera in the 1820s, through the satirical operettas of Offenbach in the 1850s, and finally to the impact of Wagner on Parisian opera at the end of the century. Repeatable for Credit.
