Description: We will read a variety of writers from both the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. For some historical background and city discourse, we will also read parts of Lewis Mumford's The City in History, Jane Jacobs’s The Death and Life of Great American Cities, and the essays of Michel de Certeau, Georg Simmel, E B White, among others.
