Description: In this course, we will study how various artistic styles developed in historical, social, and cultural contexts from the ancient period to the present day. Through the careful examination of architecture, calligraphy, painting, sculpture, ceramics, bronze, and film, students will gain a deeper understanding of Chinese art and visual culture. Cross-list: ASIA 372, MDEM 373, HART 572. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for HART 372 if student has credit for HART 572.
