Description: This course examines the dynamics of urban politics and policy in an emerging global city - Shanghai. In addition to social, political and economic issues, we will focus on history, culture, language, architecture and the arts. Weekly class sessions will include lectures case studies, guest lectures, and group work on research projects. The lab also features an 8-day field research trip to Shanghai. Prerequisite(s) POLI 362 or POLI 562 may be taken concurrently. Cross-list: ASIA 347.
