Description: This course takes a functional approach to investigate animal physiology from a cellular and molecular perspective. Using an integrated and comparative approach, students learn how animals maintain homeostasis, including how they meet their energy needs, take up and transport oxygen, and maintain hydration and salt balance. Students will read primary literature to explore physiological adaptations for survival in extreme environments.
