Description: This course considers the painting, sculpture, architecture, decorative and graphic arts of the 1700s in relation to important social and ideological developments of the period. These include the decline of traditional patronage, the rising idea of an art public, and the spread of skeptical attitudes about received authority. Cross-list: HART 550.
