Description: Exploration of the street as a focus of urban life in 18th and 19th century. We will look at ways streets functioned as spaces of livelihood, sociability, and transgression in cities such as London, Paris, Istanbul, Amsterdam and Cairo. Cross-list: ARCH 329, HIST 329, ARCH 529, HART 529. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for HART 329 if student has credit for HART 529.
