Description: By all accounts the 1960s and 1970s marked one of the most vibrant, experimental, audacious, and - above all - contentious periods in the history of avant-garde modernism. This seminar will examine the momentous shift from the international dominance of American Abstract Expressionism in the 1950s to a wide array of global counter-movements in the 1960s and 70s.
