Description: Exploration of the nature of language change. Topics covered include sound change, syntactic and semantic change, modeling language splits, the sociolinguistics of language change, and the history of European languages. Without Permission of Instructor, must have Graduate Standing. Cross-list: LING 305, ANTH 305, LING 505. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for ANTH 505 if student has credit for ANTH 305.
