Description: This course will consider why some international disputes result in militarized conflict and how such militarized conflicts can be managed and resolved. We will discuss conflict emergence, recurrence, and resolution, with attention to the roles of mediators, peacekeeping troops, agreement design, international law, international organizations, outside intervention, and military alliances. This course is eligible for credit toward the major in Political Science but it cannot be used for the concentration in international relations or in any other field.
