Description: This course introduces students to popular cultural manifestations in the form of festivals and artistic movements in the Nordeste of Brazil. The objective is to show how the cultural can be deeply political, with cultural manifestations speaking to everyday forms of representation, new identity formations, and struggles for social justice.
