Description: This seminar considers the pivotal figure of Edouard Manet. Combining a study of paintings from throughout his career, with close readings of primary sources, we will assess the key aspects of his style and subject matter. We will also consider art historical to his work and relationship to modernity. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for HART 452 if student has credit for HART 552.
