Description: What is it like to "hear" a hand? American Sign Language speakers around the country and in the Houston community know the answer to this question, and now you can, too. In this course we will learn the basics of ASL - from grammar to conversation to medical and business vocabulary - as well as exploring Deaf culture and history, which are linked inextricably to this unique language. Students should leave the course with a deeper understanding of the Deaf community, as well as an appreciation for the fun and beauty of ASL.
