Description: Course examines scholarly debates on the antebellum, wartime, and post-war periods in which Civil War era historians have provided differing interpretations on the conflict's roots, turning points, and broad meaning. Students engage in these debates and then craft their own interpretations pertaining to central issues in Civil War history.
