Description: The eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE preserved the ancient Roman town of Pompeii, allowing us to examine the art, architecture, archaeology and society of Pompeii. What did ancient Pompeii look like, how did it function, and how did ancient inhabitants decorate their houses, temples, bars, brothels, and civic spaces? Cross-list: CLAS 206.
