Description: For better or worse, the United States is a society focused on maintaining a slim waistline and good health. Food proves to be key in attaining both of these goals; yet few people understand the mechanism through which this is the case. This course will examine the scientific validity and history behind many of the most popular beliefs about food, weight loss and health. An emphasis will be place don critically evaluation popular myths and understanding the reasons behind their popularity.
