Description: How did the recovery of ancient texts shape the discovery of new worlds and perhaps the destruction of the old? This course explores major developments in Western Europe from the rise of Italian humanism in the fourteenth century to the imperial expansion and devastating conflicts of the 1500s and 1600s.
