Description: COMM 103 provides students the opportunity to strengthen their writing and their overall communication abilities in the academic disciplines in preparation for more advanced work. In this course, students will learn to develop essays of various types, construct logical arguments, identify argumentative patterns and fallacies, use online research tools, revise and edit papers according to the conventions of formal written English, deliver academic presentations, and use standard documentation systems, such as MLA AND APA. Enrollment is open to all Rice undergraduates.
