Description: Course examines the rise of Chingis Khan and Mongol Steppe society (religion, role of women, cultural exchange, strategies of violence, imperial ideologies) as well as successor empires: Yuan, Golden Horde, IIkhanid and eventually that rulled by Timur/Taerlane, who reproduced Mongol imperial power in Central Asia and India.
