Description: First advanced course, uses authentic materials (literary texts, films, Chinese media, and websites) to expose students to different discourse styles, help them cultivate sociocultural awareness and engage them in purposeful communicative tasks. Emphasis on essay writing, oral fluency (summarizing, comparing, narrating, describing...), and communicative competence. Classical Chinese is also introduced. Recommended prerequisite(s): Ability to write 1000 characters.
