Description: Examination of syntactic and semantic features of Chinese with special attention to contrastive analysis of selected topics of Chinese and English, including expressions of tense and aspect, conditional and counterfactual, word formation (morphology), the notion of syntactic category, grammaticalization, metaphor, Chinese writing system and sociolinguistics.
