Description: This course examines how linguistic and narrative structures interact to produce specific cultures of interpretation. The focus will be on linguistic and literary representations of subjectivity. This course will use novels by Western authors, such as Virginia Woolf and Dostoevsky, and some Chinese materials as comparison. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for ANTH 390 if student has credit for ANTH 590.
