Description: Explore and analyze specific myths and rituals which provide legitimation for community ceremonies and which serve as basis for the negotiation of power and ideology for members within that community. Readings from classic theorist: Gennap & Turner; and contemporary theorists: Werbner, Heusch, Comaroff and Ray. Cross-list: ANTH 423.
