Description: Research seminar on selected topics in modern European intellectual history. Topics for Fall 2006: the Enlightenment and the Idea of Nature, beginning with the reception of Isaac Newton through the elaboration of life science and "human science" considering authors like Locke, Leibniz, Buffon, Maupertuis, La Mettrie, Diderot, Rousseau, Kant and Herder.
