Description: What makes a great cup of coffee? In this course, students investigate that question while learning the fundamentals of chemical engineering. Through roasting and brewing experiments, students will see firsthand how concepts like heat transfer, reaction kinetics, and energy conservation shape the flavor, aroma, and efficiency of coffee. The course culminates in a design competition where teams strive to brew the best-tasting coffee using the least energy, a practical exercise in engineering problem-solving.
