Description: Develops an advanced quantitative framework for electrochemical systems in environmental and chemical engineering, including equilibrium potentials, interfacial kinetics, ion and membrane transport, current distribution, porous electrodes, and reactor performance. Applications include water and chlor-alkali electrolysis, electrodialysis and BMED, electrosorption/CDI, and electrodeposition. Graduate students derive constitutive relations and implement and critically evaluate coupled nonlinear models. Cross-list: CEVE 422, CHBE 422, CHBE 522. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for CEVE 522 if student has credit for CEVE 422.
