Description: Develops a quantitative framework for electrochemical systems in environmental and chemical engineering, including equilibrium potentials, interfacial kinetics, ion transport, mass transfer, current distribution, and reactor performance. Applications include water and chlor-alkali electrolysis, electrodialysis and BMED, electrosorption/CDI, and electrodeposition. Undergraduate students use scaffolded derivations and guided Python models to analyze and verify system behavior. Cross-list: CEVE 522, CHBE 422, CHBE 522. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for CEVE 422 if student has credit for CEVE 522.
