Description: Journey Towards Justice: Black Liberation & the Civil Rights Movement is an immersive course that explores the historical and contemporary struggles for racial justice in the U.S. Focused on the Civil Rights and Black Liberation Movements, students will examine key social, political, and cultural aspects of the fight for equality. The course includes a five-day trip to Alabama, visiting pivotal sites in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma, where students will engage with the legacies of the movements and their ongoing impact on today's criminal justice system and society. Through interdisciplinary approaches, the course connects past and present struggles for justice. Cross-list: AAAS 318.
