Description: Students will learn the technical fundamentals, industrial applications, and practical skills of physical and digital prototyping of medical devices. Students will operate machines and apply relevant techniques to produce physical objects that demonstrate best practices. Fabricated objects will be considered from the perspective of design for manufacturing for medical devices, including production cost models, part redesign for high volume production, and materials selection for scale up. Students will train with the instructor and learn by doing with other students. Work will be completed individually and in pairs, with a strong emphasis on collaboration fostering creativity and increased proficiency. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for BIOE 555 if student has credit for EDES 210.
