Description: Culminating team-based project experience in which students work collaboratively to apply chemical engineering principles to a real-world industry-relevant problem, aligned with one of the program's three specialization tracks: Computational Chemical Processes; Energy and Advanced Materials; or Bioprocessing and Formulation Engineering. Teams incorporate artificial intelligence and machine learning methods into their project design, applying data-driven approaches to process optimization and system analysis. Each project requires analysis of a physical chemical system, a rigorous economic evaluation of key cost and value drivers, and validation through simulation, modeling, and, where applicable, laboratory experimentation. Projects culminate in a written technical report and a formal oral presentation to faculty and, where relevant, industry sponsors.
