Description: Course considers the practice of ethnographic research (design, data collection and analysis). Topics include the contentious canonization of fieldwork & the ethnographic method, ethics & human subjects, rethinking the field & collaboration. Projects include participant observation, field notes, interviewing, and analysis of archival, ephemeral & audio/visual materials. Cross-list: ANTH 598. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for ANTH 398 if student has credit for ANTH 598.
