Description: Monsters exist at the fringes, beyond the edges of beauty, decorum, and understanding. Through group and individual projects, readings and field trips, this interdisciplinary course will explore art that transgresses or ignores boundaries – boundaries of medium, taste, identity, and rationality - in pursuit of darker corners and wilder delights. All skill and experience levels are welcome; no previous art knowledge is necessary, although there will be opportunity for students to apply and develop the interests and skills they arrive with. Students enrolled in this course will be given priority enrollment in BIOS 368, but neither course is a prerequisite or corequisite for the other.
