Description: Can one think about love and horror together? By positing a bold cross conceptual framework, this course facilitates deeper discussion and critical reflection on matters that we normally take for granted in the public cultural milieu. Using historical and contemporaneous as well as factual and fictional/multimedia examples from Japan and Korea, the course introduces students to new ways to think about the conventions in the ways that are critical of essentialism and stereotypes.
