Description: This course will provide an informative and enjoyable look at highlights of Western art from the Renaissance to the present. The course will offer a focused look at the work of selected, leading artists such as Michelangelo, Raphael, Palladio, Rembrandt, Rubens, Bernini, Watteau, Goya, Turner, Delacroix, Monet, Cassatt, Manet, Van Gogh, O’Keeffe, Picasso, Mondrian, Wright, and Pollock. The course will include a look at various media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and architecture. Students will learn how to see the works of Western art in their cultural and historical contexts.
