Description: This panoramic course explores the intersection of art, popular culture, and politics in modern Mexico. We will discuss a wide range of cultural expressions and icons of Mexico: from historical figures, celebrities, works of art, pop cultural expressions, fictional characters, and sites that have acquired iconic status. The course prompts student to engage deeply and critically with popular and visual culture (music, art, photography, film) and their political and historical context.
